Smitten's third foal and again she did not disappoint. Spotless will be offered for sale as a gelding. He will be castrated and up to date on all the required vaccinations including West Nile and Rabies before he is allowed to leave at five months of age. Spotless, or Less as we call him, is just full of personality and never meets a stranger. Thank you to Sharon Lloyd for coming up with the perfect name since Spotless does not have any white on him anywhere except for a little fuzz inside of his ears.
Less was sold to the first people who visited him.

We knew that Party Doll was close to foaling and we were bedding her stall with fresh straw, water and hay. We peeped around the corner and there she was with a foal behind her just born!
I know I think they are all special but this girl is burgandy black like her sire and she is very heavy boned with correct conformation. If I did not already keep so many foals this year and last I would definately be keeping her.
Party will be going to be a companion for Curtain Call. Hopefully she will be shown along with her stablemate next year. Thank you to Kim at Foster Hill Farm for suggesting the perfect name.

We missed filming the birth of this baby too because our barn is full and we had not put Taffy in the foaling stall. By the time we reached the barn we had to deliver the foal without moving her and the lights were too low to film. All is well for mom and baby. Boo Boo is a heavy boned, stocky girl that we believe will be a great halter donkey for us next year. This is our very last Bruise foal so we will be keeping her for our future brood jennet band. We will be selling all the rest of the foals that are due this year as we are at our capacity for keeping donkeys at this time.
A special 'thank you' to my friends, Jane Savage, Rita Harris and Emily Steenhout, who came up with the perfect barn name for this girl, Boo Boo.

Tanasi means Tennessee in Cherokee. Little Tanasi is a special little tyger spotted jack with two dark eyes and a super wide chest for such a small guy. His new owner picked out his very special and unique name. Photos and videos were hard to take because he just would not get away from me with his super friendly personality. Tanasi has been sold to North Carolina. We will hate to see him go.

El-Leigh's first foal started arriving late Thursday night and we rushed to the barn to help her deliver. El-Leigh had no milk so we called our vet to give her medicine to help her milk drop. In the meantime we gave the foal artificial colostrum and attempted to milk our other moms to give the baby something to eat while we were waiting for his mom's milk to come in. Luckily we had just purchased an UdderlyEZ milk machine that helps extract milk easily from the moms. We had to make a frantic call to Lucy at Mossy Oaks Farm in California to give us advice on how to use the machine. We had never even taken it out of the box. This machine works great on jennets that are full of milk but did not work at all on our jennets that already had foals on their sides nursing. To make a long story short...by the time we had tried all of our jennets unsuccessfully for their milk El-Leigh's milk suddenly came in and we were able to milk her and give the foal his first milk. We went to the house to get some rest and observed on our barn cam that El-Leigh was finally letting the foal nurse on his own. A big 'Thank You!' to Lucy Morrell for her advice and support during this scary ordeal. Photos and videos will be posted soon!
We have found Rufus the most wonderful home where his mom and his mom's lifelong best friend can be together forever! Rufus has been named by his new owner.
